The Covered Outdoor Learning Area of Warialda Public School

The COLA at Warialda Public School was built during the period from September 1999 to January 2000. It was built so the children attending the school could spend their recess and lunch times in it, rather than playing in the hot sun.

Half the money it was built from was raised by the citizens in the community who came to the Warialda "Fly In" and the other half was from a government grant. The Fly In was held in September at the Warialda Airstrip. There were people jumping out of areoplanes and joy rides in microlights, cessna planes and aerobatic planes.

There are handball courts in the COLA which children use every day. If students forget their hats they can use this facility to play in at recess and lunch.
