Young Communicators Award

Every year all students at Warialda Public School participate in a public speaking program call the Young Communicators Award. Here they develop their ability to write for a particular audience and speak in front of a large group, using pitch, pause, phrasing, positive body language, eye contact and most importantly humour.

K-6 students prepare 2-5 minute speeches on any topic they choose and present these to their class. The best students in each year group then progress to the finals and are invited to make their speeches in front of students in their stage, parents, teachers and community members. Members of the Warialda community are asked to be judges of the competition.

In 2008 it is hoped that the winners in each year group will compete in the Multicultural Public Speaking competition at Croppa Creek Public School.

This program is coordinated by Miss Angela Koch and Mrs Margaret Haug.
