The Computer Room

The computer room is located next to the Library, facing Hope Street. It contains 16 iMacs and one iBook networked together and linked to a file server as well as a Smartboard and Lightprobe. It was established in 1996 and has undergone many changes in technology since then. Each class is timetabled to have 1 hour per week of computer studies. Children are also allowed to access the computers at lunch time to complete publishing tasks, learn new applications, check emails or complete digital portfolios.

Every computer is linked to the internet using the Department of Education's Web Services. Each student must log in to access all programs. Pupils and teachers have their own folders containing programs such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Inspiration, Kid Pix Studio, Garageband, Imovie and Claris Homepage.

Students at Warialda Public School spend a great deal of time creating and updating their Digital Portfolios. Here they display their classwork for the year, which they share with their parents at interview time. They also archive all work created from previous years. Digital Portfolios are a fantastic way of seeing how a student grows throughout their time at Warialda Public School. All student portfolios are accessable through the school's Intranet.
